Gardening in November

Prepare for the arrival of winter

Protect delicate plants from winter by moving them to a greenhouse or finding a cozy spot. If that's not possible, wrap them up to shield from the cold. Don't forget to replenish water and food supplies for our struggling feathered friends.

Clear up fallen leaves - from lawns, ponds, beds

A pond is an asset in any garden – both an attractive centre piece and a magnet for wildlife. And just like any area of the garden, occasional maintenance will help to keep it in good condition and looking great.

Quick facts

  • Remove dead, tatty or fading leaves, so they don’t decompose in the water

  • Cut back vigorous plant growth – aim to keep half the surface clear

  • Ensure the water is well oxygenated

  • Consider cleaning out, if very overgrown and/or silted up

CREWE PROJECT, CHESHIRE |

Zeus Independent | Bioclimatic Pergola

Our exceptional team has just completed another remarkable project in a private garden located in the beautiful Cheshire area. The Zeus Independent system seamlessly blends with the rest of the garden, creating a harmonious and stunning atmosphere. For this particular project, we opted for aluminium louvres in the elegant RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey with a luxurious Sand Paper Texture Finish. Not only does it perfectly match the colour tone, but the aluminium coating adds a touch of sophistication. To ensure maximum comfort, we installed four heaters on each side of the pergola, keeping the space warm and inviting all year round. The Zeus Independent system truly comes to life with the addition of our exquisite lighting, enhancing its already breathtaking appeal. Thanks to the installation of the Zeus Independent system, our valued client, Mr. OD, can now enjoy the outdoor room throughout the seasons.

Wonders of the World

Various lists of the Wonders of the World have been compiled from antiquity to the present day, in order to catalogue the world's most spectacular natural features and human-built structures. The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the oldest known list of this type, documenting the most remarkable man-made creations of classical antiquity; it was based on guidebooks popular among Hellenic sightseers and as such only includes works located around the Mediterranean rim and in the ancient Near East. The number seven was chosen because the Greeks believed it represented perfection and plenty, and because it reflected the number of planets known in ancient times plus the Sun and Moon.

Chichen Itza

Chichén Itzá, ruined ancient Maya city occupying an area of 4 square miles (10 square km) in south-central Yucatán state, Mexico. It is thought to have been a religious, military, political, and commercial centre that at its peak would have been home to 35,000 people. The site first saw settlers in 550, probably drawn there because of the easy access to water in the region via caves and sinkholes in limestone formations, known as cenotes. Chichén Itzá is located some 90 miles (150 km) east-northeast of Uxmal and 75 miles (120 km) east-southeast of the modern city of Mérida. The only source of water in the arid region around the site is from the cenotes. Two big cenotes on the site made it a suitable place for the city and gave it its name, from chi (“mouths”), chen (“wells”), and Itzá, the name of the Maya tribe that settled there. Chichén Itzá was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988.
