CREATE YOUR OWN: Garden Sanctuary!

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks blog post from GOSS Outdoor, this week we’re gonna be going through some steps that you can take into creating your very own sanctuary. The garden is one of the most favourable places of any household and the perfect spot to create a sanctuary you can escape to, especially in these upcoming seasons bringing us longer days and warmth. So lets dive into how you can get this started…

WHAT IS A SANCTUARY?

Now you’ve probably seen this word many times before, however what does it actually mean? By definition a sanctuary is “a place that provides safety or protection” and although this may apply to you, a sanctuary can actually be whatever you want it to be, from a space to wind down, or get some work done - a sanctuary is yours and yours only.

To this day even, gardens are considered as tranquil and peaceful areas full of beauty and space, so what better place to build a sanctuary which is defined as a place that provides safety and protection.

MAKE IT YOURS

The most important step in creating a garden sanctuary would be to MAKE. IT. YOURS! This is the space where you can rely on to have a mood booster and recuperate from life a little, so the importance of you liking it and being proud to call it your own is uncanny. You have the chance to create a place solely for relaxation and joy.

Some steps you can take towards this could be through decoration, add some furniture or lighting, and if you’re feeling a little stuck you can take inspiration from some many different places! Start with the obvious which is your indoor area, find the things you love about inside and transfer them outside, or how about looking through some outdoor magazines or take to the internet to scour for ideas, from gold mine platforms such as Pinterest.

Add a water feature

Drowning out the static sound of life that is stress is an amazing way to soothe your soul, and a water feature would do just that. Water features have become increasingly popular over the past couple years and with their rise in popularity comes a rise in variety of design (lucky us).

When choosing a water feature, it really depends on the atmosphere you’re trying to create. If you’re looking for more of a center piece or something eye-catching placing a water feature that is bold and grand is where it is seen from any angle in the garden will be the best way to go. However if you’re looking for something a tad more subtle, finding a water feature that will blend in easily to the surrounding features will definitely be beneficial for the vibe you want.

DIVVY UP YOUR GARDEN

Dividing up your garden can actually make it feel so much bigger and spacious when split up. However this isn’t the only benefit this tip brings, dividing up your garden can actually let you use different parts of your garden for different things!

If you have a spot that you know is the perfect spot for the sun to reach, why not turn it into a garden fiasco and go crazy for growing? Or if you’re lucky enough to have gorgeous tree in your garden that provides shade why not have that as your relaxed seating area. So many different ways to utilise one area.

GREEN THUMBS

It has been proven many times that more greenery brings betters moods, and promote a positive impact. Plants require nurture and care and having a task you can escape to and watch grow over time it a very satisfying experience, it also gets you outside more which is perfect for this time of year now that we’ve said goodbye to winter. Get back that Vitamin D you’ve missed.

If you’re a lover of nature too, adding more greenery will bring more wildlife such as bees, you can give back and create a safe space for them to thrive. If you want to take it even further you can create houses and feeders and watch for any visitors you may get.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this weeks blog post and are ready to create your very own garden sanctuary! We look forward to seeing you next time and if you have any enquiries feel free to get in contact with us.
